spiral staircases

This First one is here in Howard Co. with hand made twisted rope made from 4 pieces of 1/2 inch solid round stock then twisted by hand.

Then next one is in Nathrop Co. with Cork material on top of the treads.

This was the latest of 3 spirals I did in Telluride this one is 115 inches from floor to floor. The customer requested the treads polished and the finish to be satin clear. This one had a 1 5/8 inch hammered tube handrail which I hammered on my 80lb air hammer then filled it with sand and bent it to the shape we needed for the spiral. Also got a collar on every 5th baluster to break up the vertical bar look.

The Horizontal design was are first in Telluride and it got the twisted rope for the handrail which is 4- 1/2 inch round solid bars that we heat up in the forge then twist by hand (good exercise) then bend to the shape of the spiral.
